To the Freight Farms Community
A letter from our CEO - Updated July 28
The past few months have been filled with ups and downs, shock, and sadness - the end of chapter. The closure of Freight Farms was more than a headline; it affects hundreds of growers who rely on these farms to feed their communities.
Since Freight Farms’ bankruptcy announcement, we’ve stepped in to help Freight Farms’ community of growers where we can. You’ve invested significant time and capital in your Freight Farms, and we know how important support is for a successful operation.
After speaking with Freight Farms partners, staff, and farmers, we couldn’t help but see the similarities between us. One thing became clear (and it’s a need we focus on providing our own network of growers too): you want uninterrupted operation and a partner to support you along the way.
We took our time to evaluate every alternative and decided on a full acquisition as the best way to deliver that stability - not just for farmers but for local food systems as a whole.
Below is what we know now, and we will be communicating more details over the next few weeks after documents have been reviewed, inventory has been counted, and we’re confident we can help the most amount of growers.
What This Means For You Today
Uninterrupted Farmhand: Your farm keeps running and you keep feeding your community. Farmhand will continue, renew your subscriptions as usual. If you need any support for Farmhand (software, billing), please submit a Growcer support request.
Interim Farm Support: If your request is urgent, please book a Farm Success Consult, an one hour of dedicated expertise with Dave Harris, former Director of Crop Research & Development at Freight Farms and now Head of Freight Farmer Success at Growcer. We will be announcing in-house support models and pricing at the end of September. Thank you for your patience.
No Forced Retrofits: We are going through the inventory of all the assets. We will be in a position to support you with spare parts at the end of this month, once we’ve completed a full assessment of what’s already in stock. We’re also stepping into supplier relationships, and will reorder new stock.
Access to Spare/Replacement Parts: Please submit a Growcer support request (found below). There are a lot of parts on hand - thank you for your patience as we sort through it all. We expect to have the inventory process complete by the end of August and we will process new orders in chronological order of when the order was received.
Farmhand Shop: Farmhand Shop has been re-launched.
Greenery Farms continues: We will continue to offer the Greenery S and 7 farms alongside the Growcer Osiris Farm. All models are available via direct purchase or through our ‘farm-as-a-service’ subscription model (which includes the farm, all ongoing maintenance and premium support services). Please get in touch.
Access to all Growcer equipment solutions: One of our most popular equipment solutions alongside our farm is the Hub Unit. It allows you to connect your farms together and work between each of them without having to go outside. All our equipment is available via direct purchase or subscription, and will be compatible with the Greenery S and Greenery 7.
Training or Farm Installation Services Request: If you’re waiting for training or for your farm to be commissioned, please submit a Growcer support request (found below) and we will schedule a call with you to discuss your needs further.
A note for creditors: Please email Freight Farms’ bankruptcy trustee directly for any unresolved issues relating to outstanding debt.
